PC to C7042 Cables

RikoRocket from Slotforum has been building cables for the C7042 for some time. These latest ones have been professionally built to his specification, and are bespoke for the new C7042 system. Technically they are data converters, with integrated FTDI electronics, which match the RS485 standard signals from the powerbase. They have been adapted to the higher voltage that normally supplies the display unit, and configured to signal the powerbase that a cable is present. The cables are 5 metres long, however he can make specials. Contact him directly if you need this at Rikorocket@tesco.net.

Cables are premium express mailed all round the world. Inside UK these are shipped royal mail FIRST CLASS RECORDED tracked express service. For Europe, USA, Australia etc they are sent by the royal mail PRIORITY HANDLING INTERNATIONAL SIGNED FOR tracked airmail service, this is the fastest way to get cables reliably delivered. The set up of the powerbase is such that if it boots with a display it stays in display mode until reboot. So if you want to use SSDC you should start the powerbase with the PC cable attached.

SSDC version 5 has the ability to show you how well the cable is performing. The status bar has information on cable current, data speed and whether a connection is made or not. Simple traffic lights monitor if data is being lost (red light on status bar) and if port is open/connected. Note these latest ones do NOT need to take power from the powerbase as the previous ones did, so they should flag 0mA on that status bar.

No driver disc is needed for Windows XP/Vista/Windows 7. If you do find you need a driver then select the VCP version on www.ftdichip.com The cable works for both Windows 7 (32 bit) and Windows 7 (64 bit). Earlier Windows 7 issues referred to in Slotforum are overcome with this latest version. Compliant with USB 2.0/1.1 standards.
