User Manual v5

Download

User manual for version 5.0, which describes all of the features available in SSDC and how to use them.

Sample Database v4

Download

Sample database for use with version 2.x, 3.x and 4.x. Download this and save it in your "My Documents" folder and unzip the enclosed database file. You can use the "Preferences" menu option to locate the database once the program has started for the first time. The databaase can be retained between software versions.

System Library

Download

Libary that provides the software interface to your PC's parallel port. Install this into your C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32 directory, or wherever you have installed your operating system. It is only required if you wish to use your PC's parallel port to drive track light circuitry.

Arduino Lights Sketch

Download

A template Arduino sketch that can be used to drive track lights. Download this sketch and upload it to your Arduino (using software available from http://arduino.cc/en/Main/Software). You can modify the sketch to suit your wiring preferences. SSDC sends a single byte of data with bits being set to indicate which lights should be on or off. The bits are 0 (Green), 1-5 (Reds 1-5), 6-7 (Amber 1-2). Change the #define statements at the start of the sketch to define the pins your lights are connected to.

At the moment, they will continue to race at their defined speeds. Penalties are just in the form of amber lights on the display (up to two penalties can be displayed). The penalties do not currently affect the race results or race order.

v3.9.1

Download latest version

Features added in this release:

  • Only the lane change button is required for refuelling

Refuelling now only needs a press and hold of the lane change, when the throttle is near zero. Refuelling will start 0.5 seconds after this combination occurs. For pit systems that don't monitor the pit exit, and that exit before the start/finish line, then the start/finish line will be used as the pit exit point. Use the "Add Lap" option to indicate that you exit the pitlane after the start finish. In the event that you don't monitor pit exit, but exit after the the start/finish, you will pit exit 0.5 seconds after you start moving after refuelling.

  • support for LED lighting using signalling from the parallel port (LPT1). Make sure that you install the system library above.
  • single tank fill rate to that cars with large tanks fill slower
  • fuel load performance algorithm dramatically improved by dynamically calculating the throttle map

For the new throttle calculations, first define a throttle map for your car with the fuel load simulation disabled. Make sure that you are happy with it, and ensure that it simulates the top performance for your car (i.e. an empty car). When you enable the fuel load simulation, you need to define the lower end (i.e. heavy/full car) as a percentage of this throttle. The throttle map is then calculated (approx every 2-5 seconds) for each car, based on its current fuel load. The algorithm ensures that the top end is varied most, whilst the low speeds are maintained. The lower end throttle map is displayed in the throttles screen as a red line, and the high end as a blue line if fuel load simulation is enabled.

v3.2

Download latest version

Updated the software to allow users to define:

  • the power available for each level of fuel load
  • the behaviour of the brake button

v3.1

Download latest version

Added the ability to create user defined throttle profiles, and store them in the database. These profiles can be associated with driver & cars in the race settings screen. The variable power settings are applied ontop of this profile during racing to increase of decrease the performance of the car as the fuel load changes. PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS VERSION CHANGES YOUR DATABASE FORMAT - PLEASE ENSURE THAT YOU TAKE A BACKUP OF YOUR DATABASE BEFORE YOU RUN THIS PROGRAM FOR THE FIRST TIME JUST IN CASE SOMETHING GOES WRONG!

v3.0

Download latest version

v1.4.5

Download latest version

Fixed a bug (with help) that caused the program to crash during startup.

v1.4

Download latest version

Added some new features:

  • It now does pitlane monitoring (only if you have a second powerbase, and second RichG cable). If you put your PB at the start of the pitlane, then it will monitor pitlane entry (and only allow refuelling in the pitlane). You are considered out of the pitlane after refuelling and 0.5 seconds of throttle greater than 10% (to allow for noise from the throttles). You are also out of the pitlane if you cross the main start/finish line! Folk without a second PB can refuel anywhere on the track, but for safety reasons are advised to move to one side!
  • It will (in theory) monitor pitlane exit, if you have been brave enough to cut a PB in half, according to RikoRocket's instructions. I haven't done it yet, so have not been able to test this. When I do, I would like to put in place pitlane speed monitoring, and penalties for speeding.
  • It will allow for the pitlane to be alongside the start/finish, and will add a lap if the option is selected. The last lap time is calculated on pit entry. Although this time is calculated, the subsequent proper lap is taken from the main start/finish powerbase.
  • There is a window that you can open which shows the throttle positions. I have still to tidy this up, but it is useful for testing. There isn't really enough soom on the main screen to show them all of the time, unless anyone has a good suggestion. I also have to change the colours based on the user options, and label each throttle, but they read left to right for car1 to car 6 respectively.

v1.3

Download latest version

Added some new features:

  • Lap times for each car over the duration of the race or qualification
  • Best, average and worst laps
  • The time difference between the race leader and other cars

v1.2
